Psalm 46: 1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth is transformed and the mountains are toppled into the depths of the seas, though their waters roar and foam and the mountains quake in the surge.“
Today many of us are appalled at the wanton destruction being inflicted on our communities. We pray for peace and wonder how peace can possibly come. The answer is to trust God.
In the last few months, many of the things we thought were so permanent have disappeared. But God has not gone away. God is still with us, and God is still on the throne.
People have free will; otherwise, we would be only puppets. God in his infinite mercy and grace has allowed us to make our own choices, even when they were poor ones. The interesting thing about some of the protests is that some groups appear to be trying to control others so that they have no chance to choose. This behavior is not godly; God does not force Himself upon people.
The point is this: no matter what is happening and no matter how much upheaval we are facing, God is still our refuge and strength. Today, do not give in to despair. Trust God and pray for Him to bring His Light and His Truth into all of the confusion that has gripped our world. He will do it. And if we ask for God to send His Peace, He will send that also.
Psalm 46: 4-11 “There is a river whose streams delight the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her; she will not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.
Nations rage, kingdoms crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah (Pause and calmly think on that.)
Come, see the works of the LORD, who brings devastation upon the earth.
He makes wars to cease throughout the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
He burns the shieldsb in the fire.
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”
The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
SELAH! (Pause and calmly think on that! )
Father God, bring your peace to our hearts and help us to trust you completely. In the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
