The Blessed Death of the Righteous
“The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; devout men are swept away, while no one considers that the righteous are guided from the presence of evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest, lying down in death.
God Condemns Idolatry
“But come here, you sons of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes! Whom are you mocking? At whom do you snarl and stick out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, offspring of deceit, who burn with lust among the oaks, under every luxuriant tree, who slaughter your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks? Your portion is among the smooth stones of the valley; indeed, they are your lot. Even to them you have poured out a drink offering, you have offered a grain offering. Should I relent because of these?
On a high and lofty hill you have made your bed, and there you went up to offer sacrifices. Behind the door and doorpost you have set up your memorial. Forsaking Me, you uncovered your bed; you climbed up and opened it wide. And you have made a pact with those whose bed you have loved; you have gazed upon their nakedness. You went to Molech with oil and multiplied your perfumes. You have sent your envoys a great distance; you have descended even to Sheol itself.
You are wearied by your many journeys, but you did not say, “There is no hope!” You found renewal of your strength; therefore you did not grow weak. Whom have you dreaded and feared, so that you lied and failed to remember Me or take this to heart? Is it not because I have long been silent that you do not fear Me? I will expose your righteousness and your works, and they will not profit you. When you cry out, let your companies of idols deliver you! Yet the wind will carry off all of them, a breath will take them away. But he who seeks refuge in Me will inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.”
Healing for the Repentant
And it will be said, “Build it up, build it up, prepare the way, take every obstacle out of the way of My people.” For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and humble of spirit, to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite. For I will not accuse you forever, nor will I always be angry; for then the spirit of man would grow weak before Me, with the breath of those I have made.
I was enraged by his sinful greed, so I struck him and hid My face in anger; yet he kept turning back to the desires of his heart. I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to those far and near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal them.” But the wicked are like the storm-tossed sea, for it cannot be still, and its waves churn up mire and muck. “There is no peace,” says my God,” “for the wicked.”
The longer Isaiah’s career as a prophet goes on, the more he must be suffering. As the citizens of Judah and Jerusalem descend even further into the abyss of idolatry, Isaiah has been treasuring the friendship of those remaining righteous. Now God is warning Isaiah that He is allowing the righteous to die before the coming invasion takes place. Once more, we are reminded that those who are truly called to be prophets may suffer more than anybody else, for they clearly see what will happen.
God has been observing the citizens of Judah and Jerusalem as they have sneaked off to shrines, burning their children as offerings to Molech and offering Molech perfume, engaging in sex with ritual prostitutes under every green tree, and generally fouling the land by their perfidy. From the sound of it, these same people may have been leaving live infants under rocks as offerings to pagan deities in addition to giving them up as live burnt offerings.
What makes infant offerings so attractive to demons? Infants are innocent and have not yet begun to choose to sin. Infants should also be the hope of their families; yet, such people are sacrificing that hope, blithely assuming that they will be able to have other children in the future who will carry on the family name. The God of Israel ordered the Jews to redeem their first-born sons with a blood sacrifice; now these same people are making a blood sacrifice of their children.
“And you have made a pact with those whose bed you have loved; you have gazed upon their nakedness.” DEMONS TRANSFER THROUGH SEX!!! This truth continues to be ignored throughout the world; however, it is still a fact. God has watched as religious leaders from the temple have slid off to hidden shrines for ritual sex. The Holy Spirit and Satan cannot occupy a person at the same time, so these men are choosing to become demon – possessed.
God through Isaiah is warning His people yet again to repent, offering them the peace and healing only He can give. But God is also warning that those who persist in idolatry will remain in torment. “I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to those far and near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal them.” But the wicked are like the storm-tossed sea, for it cannot be still, and its waves churn up mire and muck. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”
Now notice something: God is not the Author of confusion but the Author of peace. The wicked bring their problems on themselves by their own actions. God freely offers salvation to all who will repent; however, God will not force anyone to repent. Repentance must be an act of free will.
APPLICATION: Recently, the Chinese sent a spy balloon across America, conducting surveillance. The TikTok app has been implicated as another possible form of spying on those who use it. God has no need of spy balloons, apps, closed circuit cameras, or any other device. God knows human hearts and He is aware of every breath we take.
Evil attracts evil and holiness repels evil. The more the ancient Jews descended into evil, the more their actions attracted invaders such as the Assyrians who worshiped demons. Had the Jews continued to worship God as He commanded, His Holiness would have filled Jerusalem and Judah, protecting them from marauders. But the Jews refused, turning their backs on God.
In 1973, abortion became legal in America. The current president advocates abortion. But life begins at conception, and abortion is murder. Now some people are even advocating for killing infants after they are born. The shedding of innocent blood brings curses on a land. Was America perfect before abortion became legal? No! Far from it! But over the last 50 years America has deteriorated morally and spiritually. Proponents of abortion are attempting to force its legalization in other countries, spreading the evil. May God open the eyes of the people of the world to see that infant sacrifices only bring confusion and disaster! May God move in people’s hearts so that entire nations will repent, allowing God to deliver them from evil.
PRAYER: Father God, thank You for loving us and for caring for us. Lord, we confess abortion as murder and we confess that we have tolerated this sin, even if we have not condoned it. Lord, we have nothing to say in our defense. We can only beg for forgiveness and ask you to strike down this heinous practice. In the mighty and precious Name of King Jesus. Amen.
